DJ Kiki was born 1971, started his career working at Radio 101 where he became the youngest music editor ever. Today he is almost a cult figure of the Croatian electronic scene. Since the mid 80’s Kiki has worked as a DJ in every known club (Kset, Gjuro, Lapidarij, Kulusi, Jabuka, and Press) in the Croatian capital of Zagreb. 1992 was a crucial year for Kiki as he became involved in modern electronic music which is now his greatest love. Behind the decks Kiki is known for his original style, but he openly names his musical influences as Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Marvin Gaye, Gangs of Four, Bauhaus, The Smiths, New Order, Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk and Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Basic Channel. Kiki is also very active in his promotional work and is linked to many important club nights, not to mention LOOPS at Aquarius club. During 7 years at LOOPS playing his traditional quality electronic sounds he has never failed to provide a good club night with the likes of Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vaeth, Ian Pooley and DJ Hell, true innovators of the electronics. Stereo Studio, is Kiki’s latest project working with DJ’s Marijan Felver and Davor Frajman. Together the three of them have created one of the most important projects in the Croatian electronic music scene today. Due to the work of Kiki, Felver and Frajman Croatian clubbers now have the chance to hear and see international DJ’s such as Jeff Mill’s and Sven Vaeth and new tech house sound groovers Terry Francis and Eddie Richards, as well as drum’n’bass names like E-Z Rollers and LTJ Bukem. With its multimedia originality, Stereo Studio is setting a high standard for all other music projects to follow, bringing the Croatian Club scene ever closer to the influences of the west (Fabric, Cocoon).
